The key to success is working together.
We have extensive experience in the field of web camera installation on construction sites. We listen to your requirements, make recommendations and actively seek to work with you to achieve the best possible results.
The key points for success are:
Camera positioning
When looking for the ideal camera location we consider:
- Light
- Distance to the object (the new build) and the object's size
- Height of the camera in relation to the height of the new build
With this information we can select the right camera / lens combination, ensuring optimum exposure and that the subject matter will be in-shot and in-focus.
At the start of a project, the picture often shows little else but lots of sky, whilst at the end of the project the picture shows a building and very little sky. We use cameras with advanced exposure windows and backlight compensation, allowing us to adjust the settings as the project progresses, ensuring optimum image quality throughout.
Camera type
The choice is Static Vs Controllable Pan-Tilt-Zoom. Our recommendation depends on the purpose of the webcam implementation. Though, it is cut and dry:
| STATIC camera | PTZ camera | |
| Monitoring progress or operational activity | ![]() |

| Time Lapse Photography and Time Lapse Movies | ![]() |

Internet / Broadband connection
Firstly, we recommend using a dedicated broadband connection, avoiding any network issues on your LAN/WAN or with firewalls.
Secondly, we strongly recommend that you let us provide the broadband through our preferred provider ZEN Internet, enabling us to provide a smooth, speedy and high level of service. Our service may be compromised if other providers are used.
Infrastructure
Where network cabling on site is impossible, prone to damage or simply too expensive, wireless equipment can offer a good, reliable alternative. We will make recommendations whether to go 'wired' or 'wireless' during the design stage.
Power
RemoteManager webcam systems are very stable and if downtime does occur this is often due to issues with supply of power on site. A simple system reboot normally fixes the problem. We can do this remotely using a web based power switch, so that we do not have to hassle you. The inclusion of such IP power device we recommend as standard in all camera system specifications.
On-site contact
We recommend you appoint an on-site contact who we will make familiar with the webcam installation. In case of system error and unsuccessful system reboot, we may ask the appointed person to perform simple tasks, such as checking cables and connections. This avoids engineer call-outs for issues that are easily and quickly resolved.
Wind-down poles
Were possible, we recommend / specify the use of wind-down poles and brackets, allowing easier, swifter and safer camera installation and servicing.
Working Together
We understand that the primary success factor of any project is close communication between all those involved. Although the project will be managed by ourselves from conception to completion we will be in close contact with all those involved to ensure that you get out of the service exactly what you need. With our experience in the construction industry we will look at suitable locations for a camera on site and advise which solution would best meet your needs. We will then configure and install your system in close communication with you at all times.
Managed Service and Support
Our service level document guarantees a high level of support for the duration of the project. We monitor the status of your camera, undertake preventative steps and maintenance to avoid problems, and ensure the highest level of server management. Our technical team work diligently to ensure that if any errors in the service do occur, they are addressed swiftly and thoroughly. This service and support facility is critical for running a successful webcam project on any construction site.
Flexibility
We have a 'can do' attitude and will always do our utmost to meet any specific requirements you may have.
